Welcome to my personal website.
I am a Ph.D. student in Data Science at HEC Montreal (the Business School of the University of Montreal). Before joining HEC, I received an M.Sc. in Economics and a B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the Sharif University of Technology. I was also a research fellow in Applied Economics at the Tehran Institute for Advanced Studies (TeIAS) for four years.
In general, I enjoy utilizing data to solve the practical issues that businesspeople and policymakers face. My main research interests include applied econometrics, statistical and causal inference, and machine learning. I am particularly interested in issues relating to energy economics/policy and electricity markets.
To answer research questions, I combine both reduced-form and structural approaches, as well as employ techniques that span mathematics, statistics, economics, and data science.
